Former Black Stars
coach, Kwesi Appiah, is said to be heading for Sudan after being
disengaged by the Ghana Football association (GFA). Appiah, who is the
first local coach to take the Black Stars to the World Cup is reportedly
on the verge of signing a lucrative deal with the Sudanese club, Al
Khartoum.
The 54 year-old coach, relieved of his job by the GFA in September,
has now reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with the Sudanese top
flight side.
According insider information, the deal will fetch Coach Appiah $39,000 a month -- more than the $30,000-a-month he earned from his two-year contract with the Black Stars which was abrogated two months ago.
Al Khartoum, owned by the Sudanese military, finished fourth last season and are considered one of Sudan’s flamboyant sides.
In another development, the GFA have given the final nod to former Chelsea coach Avram Grant to take over the Black Stars Head Coach job. He is to be assisted by Appiah’s assistant and playing colleague in his Asante Kotoko days, Maxwell Konadu.
